Impact.com postback setup
What Impact.com sends back when a sale is approved, which field carries your click id, and how UTMCAP joins the two.
- 01
Send the click id out with your offer link
Impact.com carries it in
subId1. Put the token on the offer URL and every conversion can be traced back to the click that paid for it.https://their-offer.com/?subId1={utmcap_id} - 02
Paste the postback into Impact.com
UTMCAP builds this for you on your own tracking domain — the example below uses a placeholder. Impact.com fills in the braces when it calls it.
https://track.example.com/postback?cid={click_id}&payout={payout}&transaction_id={conversion_id}
What each field carries
| Field | Impact.com calls it | And fills it with |
|---|---|---|
| Click id | cid | not published |
| Payout | payout | not published |
| Their conversion id | transaction_id | not published |
Worth knowing: subId1 to subId3 are visible only to you; a SharedId is visible to the brand as well. Their postback is configured per event type, so set one up for each event you want to see.
Taken from what Impact.com publishes; the rest it keeps inside your account — source. We do not cite other trackers’ help pages, because a rival’s integration note says what their template does, which is not the same as what Impact.com sends.
Questions
About Impact.com and tracking.
- How do I set up a Impact.com postback?
- Paste the postback URL from your UTMCAP campaign into Impact.com, on your own tracking domain rather than the example one, and send the click id out in the subId1 field on your offer link. The parameters are filled in for you; the table above shows what each one carries.
- Does UTMCAP already know Impact.com?
- Partly. Impact.com is in the catalogue, and the parts it publishes are filled in. The rest it keeps inside your own account — read them there once and save them as your template.
- What happens if a conversion arrives days later?
- It still finds its click. The postback carries the click id, so a sale approved a week after the click attaches to that click and is dated when it happened. A status change updates the same conversion rather than adding a second one.
- What does this cost?
- Conversions and postbacks are never billable here — only the click the redirect answered. Free for 100,000 clicks a month, then $29 for a million.
