ClickBank postback setup

What ClickBank sends back when a sale is approved, which field carries your click id, and how UTMCAP joins the two.

  1. 01

Send the click id out with your offer link

ClickBank carries it in tid. Put the token on the offer URL and every conversion can be traced back to the click that paid for it.

    https://their-offer.com/?tid={utmcap_id}
  2. 02

    Paste the postback into ClickBank

UTMCAP builds this for you on your own tracking domain — the example below uses a placeholder. ClickBank fills in the braces when it calls it.

What their statuses mean here

  • approved SALEBILLTEST_SALE
  • chargeback RFNDCGBKREFUNDCHARGEBACK

Only approved counts as revenue. Pending and rejected stay separate figures on every report, so your ROI is not built on money you have not been paid.

Worth knowing: Instant Notification (INS), not a plain postback — the tracking id goes on the HopLink as tid. ClickBank now treats tid as legacy and offers extclid and unique_aff_sub1–5 alongside it; INS version 8 is the one that carries them back. Refunds and chargebacks arrive as their own notification types.

Taken from ClickBank's own documentation — source. We do not cite other trackers’ help pages, because a rival’s integration note says what their template does, which is not the same as what ClickBank sends.

Questions

About ClickBank and tracking.

How do I set up a ClickBank postback?
Paste the postback URL from your UTMCAP campaign into ClickBank, on your own tracking domain rather than the example one, and send the click id out in the tid field on your offer link. The parameters are filled in for you; the table above shows what each one carries.
Does UTMCAP already know ClickBank?
Yes. ClickBank is in the catalogue with its parameters and macros taken from its own documentation, so the postback works without you mapping anything by hand.
What happens if a conversion arrives days later?
It still finds its click. The postback carries the click id, so a sale approved a week after the click attaches to that click and is dated when it happened. A status change updates the same conversion rather than adding a second one.
What does this cost?
Conversions and postbacks are never billable here — only the click the redirect answered. Free for 100,000 clicks a month, then $29 for a million.

Point a domain at us and run a click through it.

The free plan takes a hundred thousand clicks a month and no card. If it does not do what you need, you have lost twenty minutes.
