Everything here happens in your browser. Nothing is sent to us, and there is nothing to sign up for.
- What are the five UTM parameters?
- Source, medium, campaign, term and content. Source and medium say where the traffic came from and what kind it is, campaign names the thing you are running, and term and content are yours to use — for paid traffic they usually carry the network’s macros for keyword and placement.
- Why are my tags lower case now?
- Because Facebook, facebook and FB are three different rows in every report, forever. Anything that is not a macro is lower-cased and spaces become hyphens. A macro in braces is passed through exactly as the network wrote it.
- Do UTM tags track conversions?
- No. They label a visit so analytics can group it. Tying a particular sale to a particular click needs a click id, which is what a tracker issues and an affiliate network hands back on the postback.
- Is this free, and do you keep what I type?
- Free, and no. The whole thing runs in your browser; nothing is sent to us and there is nothing to sign up for.
Tags group your traffic. A click id pays your bills.
