Track PropellerAds with UTMCAP
PropellerAds mixes two macro syntaxes: the click ID is ${SUBID} with a dollar sign, and every other macro is a plain brace — which reads like a typo and is not. It reports the cost of each visit in {cost}, takes conversions back by postback, and its spend also syncs through the API.
Your tracking URL
This is the URL UTMCAP builds for a PropellerAds campaign. Yours has your own tracking domain and campaign in place of the example — copy it from the campaign, not from here.
https://track.example.com/spring-sale?sub1=${SUBID}&sub2={campaign_id}&sub3={zone_id}&sub4={subzone_id}&sub5={bannerid}&sub6={cost}&sub7={country}&sub8={os}&sub9={device}&sub10={zone_type}&cost={cost}What each macro records
PropellerAds replaces each macro with the real value when the ad is clicked, and UTMCAP stores it in the matching field — so reports can be grouped by campaign, placement or device.
| Field | What it records | PropellerAds macro |
|---|---|---|
| sub1 | Click ID (SubID) | ${SUBID} |
| sub2 | Campaign ID | {campaign_id} |
| sub3 | Zone ID | {zone_id} |
| sub4 | Subzone ID | {subzone_id} |
| sub5 | Banner ID | {bannerid} |
| sub6 | Cost | {cost} |
| sub7 | Country | {country} |
| sub8 | OS | {os} |
| sub9 | Device | {device} |
| sub10 | Zone Type | {zone_type} |
Worth knowing
Mixed syntax: the click id is ${SUBID} with a dollar sign, every other token is a plain brace. PropellerAds reports {cost}, so campaigns can be costed per visit.

How conversions get back to PropellerAds
Postback URL comes from Tracking → Other tracker in your PropellerAds account: paste it with ${SUBID} replaced by {external_id}, and add &payout={payout}. Real spend comes from the Integration tab with an API token.
In UTMCAP, {external_id} is PropellerAds’s own click ID and {payout} is what the conversion paid — they are filled in when each conversion is sent.
Set it up in three steps
- 1. Add PropellerAds as a traffic source in UTMCAP and choose its template — the macros above are filled in for you.
- 2. Create a campaign with that source, and copy its tracking URL.
- 3. Paste it into PropellerAds as the ad’s click or destination URL.
Every field of the traffic source form is explained in the traffic sources guide.
