Display & banner traffic source

Track TrafficJunky with UTMCAP

TrafficJunky is a display & banner traffic source. Below are the macros UTMCAP fills in for it, the tracking URL it builds, and what happens to cost and conversions.

Your tracking URL

This is the URL UTMCAP builds for a TrafficJunky campaign. Yours has your own tracking domain and campaign in place of the example — copy it from the campaign, not from here.

https://track.example.com/spring-sale?sub1={ACLID}&sub2={CampaignID}&sub3={AdID}&sub4={BanID}&sub5={SpotID}&sub6={SiteName}&sub7={SpotName}&sub8={Location}&sub9={Keywords}&sub10={CampaignName}

What each macro records

TrafficJunky replaces each macro with the real value when the ad is clicked, and UTMCAP stores it in the matching field — so reports can be grouped by campaign, placement or device.

FieldWhat it recordsTrafficJunky macro
sub1Click ID{ACLID}
sub2Campaign ID{CampaignID}
sub3Ad ID{AdID}
sub4Banner ID{BanID}
sub5Spot ID{SpotID}
sub6Site Name{SiteName}
sub7Spot Name{SpotName}
sub8Location{Location}
sub9Keywords{Keywords}
sub10Campaign Name{CampaignName}

Worth knowing

Pascal case in single braces. {ACLID} is the click id to send back. {BidValue} is the bid, not what a click cost, so cost comes from the API sync instead. The full token list is on the campaign form in your account.

How conversions get back to TrafficJunky

Postback URL comes from the conversion tracker you create in your TrafficJunky account: paste it with its click id value replaced by {external_id}. Real spend comes from the Integration tab with an API token.

In UTMCAP, {external_id} is TrafficJunky’s own click ID and {payout} is what the conversion paid — they are filled in when each conversion is sent.

Set it up in three steps

  1. 1. Add TrafficJunky as a traffic source in UTMCAP and choose its template — the macros above are filled in for you.
  2. 2. Create a campaign with that source, and copy its tracking URL.
  3. 3. Paste it into TrafficJunky as the ad’s click or destination URL.

Every field of the traffic source form is explained in the traffic sources guide.
